A Timeless Retreat with a Modern Touch

A storied icon in the British Virgin Islands, Long Bay Beach Resort blends decades of history with modern luxury, offering guests an authentic and relaxing escape on the stunning shores of Tortola.

Long Bay Beach Resort has been a beloved fixture in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) for over six decades, offering guests a seamless blend of heritage, comfort, and modern luxury. Located on the sun-kissed shores of Tortola, this iconic resort has undergone a remarkable transformation following its acquisition in 2019 and subsequent renovations that began in 2020.

“We aim to provide a warm, authentic experience where guests feel completely at home,” says Bria Guishard, General Manager. “It’s not just about luxury; it’s about creating a laid-back, welcoming environment that makes every visitor feel like they’ve found their second home.”

A Tradition of Excellence

Since its inception in the 1960s, Long Bay Beach Resort has become synonymous with hospitality in Tortola. Over the years, it has earned a loyal following, with many visitors returning to relive fond memories. “We’ve had guests who stayed here on their honeymoon decades ago,” shares Guishard. “They come back and say, ‘It’s changed, but it’s still Long Bay.’”

Following the devastation of Hurricane Irma, the resort was thoughtfully reimagined, combining its long-standing legacy with fresh, contemporary touches. The renovation preserved the heart of Long Bay while elevating its amenities and guest experiences to new heights.

Exceptional Service, Unmatched Comfort

The resort’s reputation for excellent service is central to its appeal. From the moment guests arrive, they are greeted with the utmost hospitality—a signature rum punch, assistance with luggage, and a warm invitation to relax by the beach or hammocks while their rooms are prepared.

Long Bay Beach Resort offers 37 rooms, including hillside suites with panoramic views of Jost Van Dyke, beachfront suites with direct access to the sand, and private beachside villas featuring Jacuzzis and outdoor showers. The two-bedroom beach house stands out for families, boasting a full kitchen, dining area, and private space ideal for extended stays. “Our goal is to make every aspect of the guest experience seamless and relaxing,” says Guishard.

A Hub for Unique Experiences

Long Bay Beach Resort goes beyond traditional hotel stays by curating unique experiences that highlight the beauty and culture of the BVI. A standout offering is its charter services, which allow guests to explore the surrounding islands, including Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda, aboard a private catamaran or motorized vessel. “We’ve introduced excursions where guests can spend the night under the stars on a boat or visit multiple islands during their stay,” Guishard explains. “It’s a concept we’re developing to set us apart.”

The resort also serves as a gateway to Tortola’s famous sailing culture, with its charter division offering bespoke itineraries for adventurous travelers. Guests can easily arrange day trips or multi-day sailing experiences directly from the resort, blending relaxation with exploration.

A Taste of the Islands and Beyond

Dining at Long Bay Beach Resort reflects its unique blend of American influences and local flair. The newly opened restaurant serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with options catering to American palates, complemented by dishes that celebrate BVI’s rich culinary traditions. “We want to strike a balance,” Guishard says. “It’s important for our guests to experience the local culture while enjoying familiar comforts.”

Guests can also enjoy yoga sessions, Pilates, and sound baths, along with access to a gym, spa, and tennis courts. Whether lounging on a private cabana or cycling through the resort’s 52-acre property, visitors have countless ways to unwind and connect with nature.

A Legacy That Enriches the BVI

Long Bay Beach Resort is not just a retreat for travelers; it’s a vital part of the local community. Employing 74 staff members, the resort plays a key role in supporting the BVI economy and showcasing the island’s unique hospitality. “We’re considered one of the best resorts in Tortola,” says Guishard. “There’s a sense of pride and responsibility in representing the BVI.”

The resort’s leadership is committed to maintaining its reputation while evolving to meet the needs of modern travelers. Upcoming expansions include new villas and enhancements to the charter program, ensuring Long Bay Beach Resort continues to lead the way in BVI hospitality. “We’re here to offer a fantastic experience,” Guishard concludes. “Whether it’s sipping a piña colada under a cabana or watching the waves crash from a beachfront suite, Long Bay Beach Resort is the perfect escape.”
