1. In 2026, BRIMONT was recognized as Local Content Company of the Year 2025 at the Angola Oil & Gas Awards. In this regard, what have been BRIMONT’s most important milestones, and how has the company helped strengthen local industrial capacity in Angola?
Francisco Monteiro:
As a 100% Angolan company, this recognition is particularly meaningful because it reflects our belief that Angola has the talent and capability to develop world-class industrial solutions.
Over the past ten years, BRIMONT has evolved from a consulting company into an industrial and technical services group, demonstrating that local expertise can successfully deliver complex projects to international standards.
Our contribution to Local Content goes beyond employing Angolan professionals.
We invest continuously in training, knowledge transfer and industrial capacity, while maintaining a strong commitment to the communities where we operate. We also support education through scholarships and internships, helping prepare the next generation of professionals.
Ultimately, I truly believe this award recognizes a sustainable business model that combines local talent, industrial development, responsible growth and long-term value creation for Angola.
2. BRIMONT has grown from procurement, consulting and HR solutions into a multi-service company. With this growth in mind, which figures best reflect your strength today in production capacity, client demand, workforce development and market reach?
Francisco Monteiro:
BRIMONT has always grown by identifying gaps in the market and developing practical solutions to address them.
We started as a management consulting company with the ambition of becoming a trusted partner for businesses operating – or looking to establish themselves – in the Angolan Oil&Gas sector. From the beginning, our approach has been straightforward and results-oriented: we don’t simply advise; we execute. We often say that BRIMONT is a consulting company that wears coveralls.
That mindset naturally led us beyond consulting. As we worked alongside our clients, we identified opportunities where we had the technical capability to create greater value.
This evolution gave rise to our industrial production, technical services, chemical manufacturing and integrated engineering businesses.
Our industrial activities are a good example of this philosophy. Rather than pursuing complexity, we focus on making industrial solutions more accessible, efficient and practical.
In the oil and gas sector, where we have built much of our experience, we continuously develop solutions to address operational challenges. During the COVID-19 pandemic, for example, we pioneered the concept of quarantine centres for the industry, helping operators maintain safe and uninterrupted operations.
The same approach led us to expand the production and application of sodium hypochlorite. While the product already existed in the market, we helped broaden its industrial adoption, supplying sectors such as oil and gas, industry and public utilities with locally manufactured, high-quality solutions.
Today, BRIMONT supports major operators in the energy sector while serving a growing portfolio of industrial and commercial clients.
Our strength is measured not only by our growth, but by our ability to transform ideas into practical, operational solutions – combining local engineering, manufacturing and technical expertise to solve real challenges and create lasting value for our clients.
3. Now that you are talking about these products, BRIMONT holds international certifications in quality, environmental management, safety and compliance. How do these standards help BRIMONT position itself as a trusted Angolan partner for major operators and international companies?
Francisco Monteiro:
Our certifications are not simply credentials – they reflect the way BRIMONT has always operated.
When we pursued ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001 and 37301), we realized that many of the management practices and controls were already embedded in our culture. Certifications achieved just formalized those practices and confirmed that our systems met internationally recognized standards.
For our Clients, particularly international operators, this provides confidence that BRIMONT delivers quality, safety, environmental responsibility and compliance at the same level expected anywhere in the world.
As an Angolan company, demonstrating that capability is particularly important because it reinforces trust and proves that local companies can compete internationally.
4. In the same context, BRIMONT has highlighted local content, certified production, safety and environmental standards as key parts of its business approach. As Angola moves forward, how is your company using responsible business practices to support more sustainable industrial development?
Francisco Monteiro:
For us, sustainability is not a separate initiative – it is part of every business decision we make.
Creating long-term value means balancing economic performance with environmental responsibility and social impact.
Profit is essential for sustainability, but sustainable businesses also invest in people, communities and future generations.
As Angola continues its industrial development, we believe companies have a responsibility to grow responsibly, develop local capabilities and contribute to a stronger and more resilient economy. That is the philosophy that guides BRIMONT.
5. You were also talking about the workforce you have in the company. How do talent development and partnerships with Angolan institutions help BRIMONT create long-term social impact and prepare the next generation of technical professionals?
Francisco Monteiro:
Developing people has always been part of BRIMONT’s vision.
Even before establishing the company, we were already engaging with universities to understand how academic training could better meet industry needs. We believed then, as we do today, that education is fundamental to sustainable economic development.
Over the years, we have maintained strong relationships with academic institutions, offering internships, scholarships and opportunities for young professionals to gain practical experience.
Investing in talent is one of the most important contributions we can make to Angola’s future, and it will remain one of our priorities.
6. Talking about the future, what sits at the top of your priorities in terms of local manufacturing, developing industrial services and supporting Angola’s economic diversification?
Francisco Monteiro:
Our objective is to continue strengthening BRIMONT’s three strategic pillars – Commerce, Services and Industry – in a sustainable and integrated way.
Industrial development is one of our highest priorities, particularly in chemical manufacturing and specialized industrial services. We believe Angola’s oil and gas sector offers significant opportunities to expand downstream activities, and we are committed to being an active contributor to that transformation by developing local industrial capabilities and delivering solutions that add value within the country.
At the same time, we see tremendous potential to replace imported technical services with locally developed expertise. Angola is producing highly qualified engineers and technicians, and our responsibility is to create opportunities for them to apply their knowledge, build experience and develop their careers at home.
Beyond industry and services, we also see modern commerce as a key enabler of economic diversification.
Our ambition is to meaningfully contribute to a more diversified, competitive and resilient Angolan economy by integrating commerce, industrial development and technical services into sustainable, long-term growth.
7. I do not think we covered ESG practices very well, so I would like to know more about your activities supporting the community and your social impact. Could you expand on that?
Francisco Monteiro:
ESG is embedded in the way we manage our business.
For us, social responsibility begins with how we treat everyone we interact with! With respect, empathy and a genuine commitment to creating value.
This is the philosophy that shapes the way we develop our people, build long-term relationships with our Clients and partners, and contribute to the communities where we operate.
Every year, we invest in scholarships, internships and community initiatives, while our technical teams actively support projects related to water treatment and other areas that generate tangible social benefits. We strive to exceed our Clients’ expectations, work with our suppliers as true partners and foster relationships built on fairness, trust and mutual growth.
Governance is equally fundamental. As previously referred, BRIMONT maintains internationally certified management systems, including ISO 37301 for Compliance Management, reflecting our commitment to ethics, transparency and responsible business practices.
For us ESG is not a standalone programme or a reporting exercise! It is a mindset that guides our decisions every day, ensuring that our business creates lasting value for our people, our partners, our communities and Angola’s sustainable development.
8. You have a lot of experience and a very extensive career. You started as an entrepreneur and have over 20 years of experience across oil and gas, business consultancy, aviation, media and entertainment. Looking back at this journey, which achievements are you most proud of, and what legacy would you like to leave as a leader helping build stronger Angolan industrial capacity?
Francisco Monteiro:
The greatest achievement is seeing people grow.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work across different industries at different levels, and every experience has reinforced the importance of staying curious, adaptable and focused on solving real problems.
Those experiences have shaped the way I lead BRIMONT today.
I encourage my team to develop broad capabilities and embrace new challenges because versatility is essential in a developing economy. It´s a must not only to excel in the current roles but also to continuously learn, grow and contribute beyond immediate responsibilities.
As for legacy, I have never seen it as something personal. My focus has always been on doing the work as well as we can and making a positive contribution every day. If, along the way, the people who work with me become a little better, if I become a little better, and if BRIMONT helps build stronger professionals, stronger companies and, ultimately, a stronger Angola, then I believe that is a legacy worth leaving.
We have ambitious goals, but our ambition is grounded in continuous improvement. Every day is an opportunity to do better than yesterday, and that, for me, is what truly matters.
9. In your opinion, as a businessman, what would you like to say to our readers about investment opportunities in the sector and in Angola more generally?
Francisco Monteiro:
If you are looking to build meaningful and lasting businesses, Angola should be on your radar.
Angola is one of Africa’s most promising investment destinations. It is a stable nation with abundant natural resources, a young and dynamic population, expanding logistics infrastructure, growing industrial capabilities and significant opportunities across sectors such as energy, mining, manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure.
Beyond its natural advantages, Angola is a country that is steadily building the foundations for long-term economic growth.
There is still much to develop, which creates exceptional opportunities for investors who are prepared to bring expertise, innovation and a long-term perspective.
Having said that, I would not describe Angola as an easy market or an “El Dorado”, success here requires commitment, integrity, resilience and patience. But for those willing to invest responsibly and work alongside local partners, such as BRIMONT, the rewards extend well beyond financial returns. You become part of the country’s transformation and contribute to building a stronger, more diversified and more prosperous economy.
That is why I believe and always advise, Angola is not simply a place to invest – it is a place to build, to innovate and to create lasting value.
